The Personal Touch delivers another 100% A Level Pass Rate at Andover College

Andover College has achieved an incredible 100% A Level pass rate* once again, with high grades increasing, cementing its position as one of the leading colleges in the region. This impressive result marks the first of the new two-year linear A levels and demonstrates that the College’s personalised philosophy is paying dividends. Alongside this, Andover College is ranked in the top 5% in the UK for value–added at A Level, indicating that students of all abilities achieve more at the College.

The combination of high quality teaching and learning where students are “a name not a number” has seen further increases in high grade passes with 78% achieving A*-C and 46% A*-B.

Students excelled in all subjects getting top grades across the board with the College performing exceptionally well in sciences with an incredible 83% achieving A*-B grades in Physics and over 70% achieving A*-B in Further Maths, Chemistry and Psychology.

The Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ Arts department also stood out with 100% A*-B in Film Making and 80% in Graphics – both flagship subjects in the College’s unique Digital Futures programme.

Principal Tim Jackson said: “We are naturally delighted to once again achieve a flawless 100% pass rate which saw some great stories of personal achievement. We are committed to our philosophy of excellence and a genuinely personalised experience for our students. Not only do they gain outstanding results, they become deep learners focused with critical thinking and analytical skills, which prepares them for advanced study at university and their future careers.”

He continued: “This performance is particularly strong as this is the first year of linear A Levels which are solely assessed on end-of-year exams and therefore designed to be more challenging.”

Sam Sutton, who also received an offer from the University of Oxford has chosen the University of Warwick, with his A* in Maths and A grades in Physics, Further Maths and Chemistry. Sam attributes his success to the close-knit community at Andover saying: “You get lots of one-to-one time with the lecturers who you can tell just love what they do”.

Another Russell Group university beckons for Liming Yang who is off to University of Exeter to study Medical Science. Liming achieved an A* in Maths and A grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Commenting on his time at Andover College he said: “The individual support has been invaluable. I moved to the UK at 16 not speaking a word of English and the teachers have provided so much support, they are really interesting, the lessons are never dull, a total joy in fact.”

Exemplary student Alice Hill who is off to University of Southampton with her A in History, A in Classics and B in Environmental Studies to study History and Ancient History. The small classes stand out for Alice with her commenting: “You get lots of personal support and the lecturers are really engaging and there’s such a great vibe at the College”.
Alice Bathie is off to Falmouth University to study Film having achieved an A in Art and Film, B in Creative Writing and A* in her Extended Project Qualification. Commenting on her time at Andover she said: “The College is such a safe, happy place. All my lecturers and peers have been amazing it made me fall back in love with learning again.”

Head of Faculty for 6th Form, Ben Stokes celebrated with the students and his team today commenting: “We have consolidated our position as an outstanding provider for A Levels. Not only were students able to build on last year’s superb achievements but also able to do this in light of significant A Level reforms, which posed challenges for students by the depth and breadth of a new curriculum. We’re very proud of our students’ hard work and commitment and our teaching team’s ability to help develop the skills for students to excel individually and produce standout results above the national average”
