Another fantastic year for A Level results at Andover College

Andover College has consolidated its position as one of the top A Level providers in the region with an incredible 99.4% A Level pass rate that many will struggle to match. The college is in the top 4% of all colleges nationally in the UK for value added and has once again proved that its holistic and personalised pays dividends – students of all abilities achieving more at the college than they would have anywhere else, realising their individual potential and moving on to top university destinations.

Students excelled in all subjects with the College performing exceptionally well in Chemistry with an incredible 100% achieving A*-C grades and over 80% achieving A*-C in Accounting, Business, English Literature, Health & Social Care, Philosophy, Psychology, German, Film Studies and Communication & Culture.

The Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ Arts department continues to be the place to study creative subjects with 100% A*-C in Film Making, 87% in Graphics and 84% in Photography – all flagship subjects in the College’s unique Digital Futures Programme.

In the Extended Project qualification, a highly sought-after subject by universities demonstrating not only academic rigour but a mature and developed approach to learning, 79% of students achieved A*-B reinforcing Andover College’s ability to develop the skills that students need for higher level study.

Principal Tim Jackson said “We are naturally delighted to once again achieve results that place Andover College at the forefront of A Level teaching.”

Hannah, after much anticipation was pleased to find she has received an A* in Photography, A* in Fashion Textiles and an A in Communications & Culture. She is now going off to study Fashion Management at Southampton Solent University. She said: “The things I enjoyed most about Andover College, were the atmosphere, support and the people!”

Finlay, 18 gained an A in History, an A in Philosophy and a B in Classical Civilisation and is off to study History and Ancient History in 2019 following a gap year, he said: “I received a tremendous and consistent amount of support and nurturing from lecturers, student support and friends and I couldn’t have done this without them.”

Assistant Principal, Ben Stokes was delighted with the success and celebrated with students and his team today commenting: “Andover College continues to go from strength to strength, and this has been another great year for our students, supported unstintingly by our fantastic teaching and college team.”
