Andover Open Day showcases industry standard opportunities

Andover College BTEC dance students recently showcased their credentials at the UK’s biggest dance event Move It in London’s Excel arena, and now visitors to the forthcoming Open Day on Saturday 1 April (9.30am to 12.30pm) are invited to see how the College ensures all students gain invaluable industry experience alongside their qualifications.

Andover College’s stated ambition is to prepare students for university or employment with a gold-standard of learning that goes beyond the classroom. At Move It, dance students were given the chance of a lifetime to take the stage in front of top professionals including Marlon ‘Swoosh’ from Flawless and Dance Mum’s Jennifer Ellison.

Principal Tim Jackson said: “This April date will mark the fifth and final event in our series of Open Days for this academic year, where visitors can experience the work of the College and see how Andover can give students the head start they need in their careers.” He continued: “Our past students have gone on to study at top Russell Group universities across the country, as well as battling industry competition to secure some of the best jobs throughout a wide range of sectors. Stellar experiences such as performing at Move It are prime examples of the opportunities available at Andover College – a place where students receive both the support and encouragement to reach their ultimate potential.”

Visitors at the Open Day will see the wide range of subjects on offer, from further creative, professional and technical courses and apprenticeships to the A Level programmes, which achieved a pass rate of 100% in 2016. State-of-the-art facilities will also be open for prospective students and parents to explore, from the College’s chemistry laboratories to the brand new Technology and Future Skills Centre, worth £3.9M for those with a passion to become experts in the trade industries.

Supporting this, latest performance figures released by the government show that Andover College is in the top 5% in the entire country for ‘Value Added’; a measure of the degree to which students not only fulfil, but achieve grades beyond their original potential.
