Andover College Media Student to Broadcast for 24 Hours!

Castledown Radio are celebrating their ninth birthday on Saturday 14 November and Andover College Media student Christopher Steers will be broadcasting live from 9am to 9am Sunday 15 November. The 24 hour live marathon broadcast is to raise money for Brighter Futures the charity for Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which includes Great Western Hospital in Swindon and the 69 community sites in and around Wiltshire.

Presenter and student Christopher said: “The team at Castledown Radio are always keen to regularly support the charities within our community and for us this is a very worthy charity”.

Brighter Futures are embarking on a £2.9million appeal in order to bring cancer care closer to those living in Swindon and Wiltshire.  So far they have raised £200,000 but they still need our help to reach their target.

The money raised will equip a new Radiotherapy Centre, to be built in Swindon, and will provide a service to a catchment population of around 340,000 people who live within half an hour’s drive of the hospital.

Cancer is the leading cause of mortality in England, and the incidence of new cancer cases is predicted to rise by 16% over the next 10 years. Cancer affects one in three of the UK population and kills one in four.

Radiotherapy is a successful treatment for cancer and increasingly important in the management of many cancers.

Your donation will be used to equip the centre including two linear accelerators, enabling cancer patients from Swindon and Wiltshire to receive radiotherapy locally. To donate visit www.justgiving.com/castledown-Radio/ alternatively you can Text CRFM85 with the amount £5 to 70070.
