Andover College Media and Theatrical Special Effects Hair and Media Make-up Lecturer Sita Gill has reached the finals of The Professional Beauty Awards, the most prestigious and established awards scheme for the beauty industry. Sita is one of only six national finalists for the Make-up Specialist of the Year.

Sita first began her career in theatre and film and now specialises in fashion make-up. Her varied client base includes fashion magazine, fashion shows, bridal, celebrity and private work. Commenting on her shortlisting for the awards she said: “I love everything about my job – making people look and feel amazing and seeing how the transformation to their look can make them feel.”

When not working as a specialist freelance make-up artist Sita shares her expertise in the College’s Hair and Beauty department with Hair and Media Make-up students. She explains how her freelance works benefits students at the College: “As a busy freelancer all my skills are current and fresh and I can pass on to students the latest techniques and details of new products on the market. The industry is ever evolving and I keep the students very current and completely up to date.

The Professional Beauty Awards are open to the beauty, spa, nails and aesthetics markets, recognising those who make a real difference to the industry and encouraging their development. Winners will be announced at a glamorous reception and gala dinner on 28 February 2016.

Media and theatrical make-up students learn a variety of advanced media make-up techniques, special effects, airbrush body art and hair techniques which leads to either university or the creative world of hair and media make-up in the film, television, fashion and media industry.
