Andover College launches new Digital, Art & Design Hub

As standards and results reach top levels, more and more people are visiting Andover College to learn about the one-to-one support and community driven culture that makes its students so successful. Following record-breaking visitor numbers last month, Andover is hosting another Open Evening on Wednesday 15 November 2017, 4.30-7.30pm to give parents and prospective students the opportunity to see why the College’s wide range of courses and apprenticeship programmes are stronger than ever.

Tim Jackson, College Principal said: “We’ve continued to break all records with our second consecutive 100% A Level pass rate in 2017, but it’s more than our flagship Sixth Form which sets Andover apart. We genuinely are a college which meets everyone’s needs and our great statistics are a result of the team’s ability to deliver top results, through working with each individual and implementing specific support plans that enable them to progress and fulfil their potential. This holistic approach is what we call ‘The Andover Promise’ and it’s ultimately what we feel sets our College apart.”

As results continue to rise, so do Andover’s first class facilities. To coincide with the dynamic and creative nature of the digital technology industry, the College has recently transformed its Creative Arts department into an exciting and innovative Art, Design and Digital Futures hub. Designed to take students’ learning to an entirely new level, the space realistically reproduces the atmosphere of an art school or design consultancy.

Helen Perry, Curriculum Leader of Art, Design, Film and Media explained: “This open-plan, practical space gives us as lecturers the unique opportunity to deliver an advanced art and design curriculum to our students. Dedicated design, making, digital and exhibition spaces across a variety of disciplines give learners the opportunity to work collaboratively across different workshops, encouraging them to experiment and develop an array of specialist skills to take with them into university or employment.”

As well as the new Art, Design and Digital space, the College’s multi-million pound Technology & Future Skills Centre will be just one of many other facilities open at the November open event. As well as access to these industry-standard training facilities, visitors can also learn more about exciting new opportunities outside of the college grounds such as trips, placements and programmes including Andover’s new Football Academy partnership with premier league team, Bournemouth AFC.
