BTEC Law, Criminology and English Literature A Levels
Future Plans: Studying Law at Salford University, Manchester
Previous School: John Hanson Community School
“I chose to study Law because I had always found it to be fascinating and it turns out that it lived up to my high expectations! The classes at Andover College are always friendly and the lecturers are always approachable. The Law course itself provided me with a new perspective on the UK legal system and provided insight on politics too which I’ve really enjoyed. I also chose to study Criminology and English Literature as they complement Law well; for instance, Literature improved my essay skills whilst Criminology allowed me to see an in-depth view of certain crimes, improved my report writing skills and enhanced my presentation skills!
I hope to progress onto a Law degree at Salford University after college to extend my knowledge on the subject, before going on to complete a Master’s in Law to become a Barrister! The trip to Parliament and the Supreme Court was my most enjoyable experience and provided me with this career inspiration, as it gave me a big insight into the legal system and law making process.
Andover College has been enjoyable in the fact it allows you to make more decisions unlike school and treats you as an individual. The people at college have made my time here as they are easy to approach and befriend – even if they are not in your class, they are still willing to support you!
I’d sum up my time studying at Andover as challenging, sociable and beneficial. It has prepared me for my next step of education by teaching me how to manage my time, plus the one-to-one meetings with tutors and lecturers really helped me write my personal statement for University as well as supporting me with any other struggles or questions during my studies.”
