Choosing your course

What you want to do with your life is up to you. The next few years in particular are an exciting time, as they could shape your life in the future. So it’s worth spending some time thinking about your personal ambitions. If you have no idea and are looking for some pointers, there are plenty of places to get advice. Check out a website like careersadvice.direct.gov.uk and use one of its ‘help with making decisions’ tools. Alternatively, look at its database of job profiles and see what qualifications you’ll need for a particular kind of career. Other websites and agencies, such as Connexions (see www.connexions-direct.com) are also really useful.

Get talking

Try to talk to as many people about your options as possible. This includes friends, family, teachers and careers advisers. Listen to what they have to say (which can sometimes be conflicting!), and then do what is right for you. If you'd like to talk to the Careers and Connexions Advisers based at Andover College, call 01264 360000.

Get in touch

Check out our courses. Do we offer a pathway to a career you’re interested in? Make sure you consider vocational courses as well as the academic ones before you commit yourself either way. If you’re not sure, get in touch. You could come along and have an informal chat on one of our open evenings, or just pick up the phone and call Student Services. We’re always happy to chat. Our lecturers are all specialists in their fields and can give you plenty of information on the courses we offer and where they could take you.
